Fall Semester 2008

So everyone seems to be "blogging" these days so I thought I would jump on the band wagon. Plus I can include pics with blogs. I am not sure where to begin. The beginning of the semester was very busy and tiring. I am a Residential Assistant this year in the new girls dorm. It has been quite the challenge. I have the most wonderful group of girls on my floor. They are very low maintenance. And they are loads of fun. Checking them all in was a very long process but we all survived. School is going good. I have a lot of hard classes this semester as I finish up most of my lower division courses. Spanish is my favorite class right now. Or I should say, "Mi clase de Espanol es mi favorito!" I think that is right or it is close. I have really great teachers again this semester who are very helpful. This is my first time living in a state where the leaves change colors. So it has been very exciting to watch this process. It has been getting very cold lately. Low 30's at night and anywhere from the 40's to 60's in the day.

There have been lots of activities on campus this year. I just went to my first CrayolaPalooza. Yes that is right. It was the coolest thing ever. There were about eight tables and each table had something different. There was face painting, make paper bag puppets (which I did), finger painting, crayon and marker coloring, making necklaces with noodles, and more. There was a huge turnout. I made Oscar the Grouch hand puppet and painted many faces. They also played Disney songs the whole time. From what I heard, the school started this some years back because by the middle of the semester many students were frazzled and stressed and needed and outlet. They tried this CrayolaPalooza and it was a hit. Male and female students, teachers and their families and other staff come and we all just get to act like kids again being creative. It was the best night so far.

SVU have had a lot of success this semester with sports. Our girls Soccer team took first at Nationals in Vermont, girls Volleyball took third in Nationals, and Boys and Girls Cross Country both took second place in Nationals that took place right here in Buena Vista. I took my friend Cimone to her very very first cross Country meet. I was taking photos while the and others yelled and help posters for our Knights that were running. It was a beautiful day for running. I got her hooked on watching running. There was a great turnout from family and students. It was about a 30 minute walk from school to the park.

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving. Aunt Jane is coming out to visit and we will have dinner eating Chinese food. I refuse to eat the whole turkey, stuffing, potatoes, etc... without my family at the table. So I am going to be a little different this year. It will be fun none the less. I will try and keep this updated as much as possible. Looking forward to coming home for Christmas. My address here is:
